Claudio Ranieri talks about Leicester's first home Champions League tie against Porto

This year alone the Algerian hitman has scored five goals in three appearances against Nuno Espirito Santo?셲 side.

And his혻 deadly record against the 1987 and 2004 Champions League winners혻??nicknamed the Dragons ??earned him the nickname Dragon Slayer from adoring Sporting supporters.

Now boss Claudio Ranieri is relying on his on-fire frontman to extinguish the visitors??threat when they arrive at the King Power for the Foxes??first ever Champions League home tie.

He혻 said: ?쏶limani scores so many times against Porto, I?셶e got to think carefully about if he?셲 going to play or not!

?쏧 didn?셳 know he had that nickname but, of course,혻 Slimani will play혻 as normal.

?쏦e?셲 a goalscorer and he?셲 scored a lot of goals against Porto in the past.

?쏧?셫 sure he will be a threat to them again.??/p>

Ranieri revealed that, when it was time to discuss Porto,혻 Slimani was the first player he sought out.

But he found혻 his pumped-up striker was already on his way to share his intimate knowledge of tonight?셲 opponents with his new gaffer.

Ranieri said: ?쏧?셶e already spoken to Slimani about Porto.

?쏻ho approached who first? He came to me as I came towards him! We both have a lot of respect for Porto.

?쏷hey are a lot more experienced in European football. They have played so many games in the Champions League and are used to staying at the top of their league.

?쏷hey have won six titles out of the last ten in Portugal. I don?셳 like to single out individuals but Porto play good football. They have quality players and they keep possession well.

?쏧t?셲 important for us to be very attentive and be smart in every situation.??/p>

Ranieri says Leicester's season hasn't been perfect like it was last year

But despite their혻 Champions League pedigree Porto have not won in 16 previous trips to England.

In fact, they have failed to score in each of their last four visits.

As if that was not enough to make Porto fearful of their trip to the home of the reigning English champions, Ranieri claims Slimani, who scored twice on his last home game against Burnley, is lapping up the chance to play with his Algerian team-mate Riyad Mahrez.

The Italian said: ?쏷hey have a good understanding already. Riyad is our big name and when he plays well, he can give Islam good balls.

?쏷hey know each other and play every international game together.

?쏧n training and in matches they have a good relationship and understand each other?셲 movement.??/p>

Marc Albrighton, who scored혻 Leicester?셲 first-ever Champions League goal in Bruges, says they will recover from leaking four in 20 minutes at Manchester United on Saturday.

He said: ?쏧 wouldn?셳 say we are feeling the pressure of being champions this season.

?쏬ast season it was nice to be the underdogs, with everyone writing us off in every game.

?쏻e are probably underdogs in the Champions League again but it will play no part in our mindset and we?셪l try to win as we always do.??/p>
